The Kitesurf Centre cares about your privacy. For this reason, we collect and use personal data only as it might be needed for us to contact you regarding lessons, special offers and events, for posting out orders and for safety reasons such as calling an emergency contact in case of an accident.

Collecting Data
We collect information so that we can provide the best possible experience for you with regards to our lessons, shop and holidays. Much of what you likely consider personal data is collected directly from you when you:
(1) Complete a sign-in form when partaking in a lesson
(2) Place an order on our website or in our shop
Using Data
We strongly believe in both minimizing the data we collect and limiting its use and purpose to only that (1) for which we have been given permission, (2) as necessary to deliver services from the school or shop.
School
We collect the following data when you sign into a lesson at our school:
- Name
- Address
- Telephone Number
- Emergency Contact Name
- Emergency Contact Number
- Email Address
- Medical Information (Allergies, medical conditions and ability to swim 50m)
From this, your name and telephone number are used solely for the purposes of booking lessons, rescheduling lessons, and contacting you regarding payments or other lesson-based queries. Your emergency contact’s name and telephone number are only used in the extremely rare case of you being involved in an accident during the lesson. The medical information is used only by our office team and instructors to determine whether we believe it is safe for you to partake in the lesson, and whether your instructor needs to know anything about any allergies or conditions you may have.
Shop
When you place an order on our online shop, in the shop or over the phone, we collect the following data:
- Name
- Address
- Telephone Number
- Email Address
This data is collected for the purpose of shipping your order and contacting you about any amendments or queries.
Marketing & Social Media
Our database of customer information contains fields which show whether you have opted in to receive marketing information in the form of promotional emails regarding our lessons, special offers and events. Your preference on this can be updated at any time by either emailing us at info@thekitesurfcentre.com or calling us on 01797 724 126. If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram, no data is collected about your social media account and you will not be contacted directly via social media unless you choose to contact us first. You will see advertisements and posts on our account which may or may not be paid. Under the policies of the social media platforms you follow us on, you may see advertisements from us whilst browsing other websites. This is covered underneath the privacy policy of that particular website and not governed by us. You can choose to unsubscribe from our social media accounts at any time.
Storing Data
All of the personal information we collect on you is entered into a secure, encrypted database for which only our office team have access. This database is entirely offline so cannot be accessed remotely by any authorised or non-authorised parties over the internet.
Sharing Data
The Kitesurf Centre has a strict policy in place to never share data with a third party without your permission, other than where it is necessary to complete an order (i.e. if you purchase an RRD kite we may provide RRD with your address details in order to drop ship the kite to you).
Communicating with you: We may contact you directly or through a third-party service provider regarding products, special offers and events. Though we use a third part service to allow us to send our newsletters, this third-party service does not have access to the email addresses we send to. Your email address is only included in the list for sending out promotional material if you have given us your express consent.
Compliance with legal, regulatory and law enforcement requests: We cooperate with government and law enforcement officials and private parties to enforce and comply with the law. We will disclose any information about you to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate to respond to claims and legal process, to protect our property and rights or the property and rights of a third party, to protect the safety of the public or any person, or to prevent or stop activity we consider to be illegal or unethical. To the extent we are legally permitted to do so, we will take reasonable steps to notify you in the event that we are required to provide your personal information to third parties as part of legal process.
